Architects/Engineers
The Professional Masonry Association has developed the "Plans are Tools Award" for architects and engineers who exemplify excellence in designing a true "working drawing".  This award was established to recognize architects and engineers whose drawings and specifications are tools which can be used to accurately construct buildings.  Many times in today's construction field, drawings are useless in the field and much time is wasted trying to clarify inconsistencies.  Each summer, mason contractors are asked to submit drawings for a project which they have completed or are 75% completed in that year.  A committee of mason contractors and others in the field meet and judge the entries.  The awards are given at a reception in October.  The winners are asked to be honorary members of the PMA for the following year.  After the first year they may continue their membership for a nominal fee.  Only current or past "Plans are Tools Award" winner may be members of the PMA.
